New
Evil Dead
As you all know I’m a big fan of the original Evil
Dead and that I was looking forward the remake. It looked like it was going to
be the next big horror movie that fans of the genre have been waiting for. In
this version it’s not really a remake it’s more of a reboot in some sorts. While
there are a lot nods to the original this is a new story, and new characters. Five
twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin. When they discover
a Book of the Dead, they unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the
nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left
intact to fight for survival. The difference is that one of the main characters
needs to detox so her brother in her friends take her to a cabin to help her
kick the addiction. The movie starts off really well the pace is excellent and
the horror elements are handled really well. But after the midway point the
movie doesn’t go anywhere it feels repetitive with the same thing happening
over and over. Yes there is a lot of gore but you just don’t really care about
the characters to really be frightened by them. The original Evil Dead you
cared about Bruce Campbell’s character. Another thing I didn’t like were the
demons they all were the same the original one had different types of demons
attacking the main character physically and mentally. It’s still a good movie I
will recommend it to any horror fan I give this a 7/10
